A broad-area, 810-nm OEM diode laser is available from Coherent Photonics Group, Semiconductor Div. This 500-µm emitting device is suitable for integration into direct diode thermal medical applications and as a pump source for neodymium-based, diode-pumped solid-state lasers. It is mounted on a standard conduction-cooled package that measures 10.5 x 25 mm. Typical drive current and compliance voltage for this 5-W, single-stripe diode laser are <6 A and <2 V, respectively. Other features include a typical spectral width of <2.5 nm at FWHM, and beam divergence <35° x 10°, FWHM.
