Comsol Inc. has released Femlab 2.1 for 1-, 2- and 3-D simulations of physical phenomena in science and technology. The software offers a numerical solver for computing problems with components on different time scales and for solving combined dynamic and stationary multiphysics problems. This algorithm is available directly from the graphical user interface, which also supports postprocessing of integrals over domains and boundaries. The software includes associative geometries in the 3-D solid modeler and visualization capabilities such as transparency. Also included is a chemical engineering module that allows users to couple transport phenomena with arbitrary expressions for the reaction kinetics in a system.
