Wavelength References has announced a miniature acetylene gas absorption cell with absorption lines that are insensitive to environmental effects and that offer an accuracy of 10-9. The cell has an intense absorption spectrum with more than 50 lines covering the wavelength range of 1510 to 1540 nm. It is suitable for use as a built-in calibration source for optical spectrum analyzers or tunable lasers, for calibration of optical test equipment, for locking lasers in a transmission system to an absolute physical standard and for the characterization of newly created optical designs.
