LASER SAFETY GLASSES

Photonics Spectra
Sep 1997
Carl Zeiss Microscopy LLCRequest Info

Carl Zeiss is integrating a laser mirror into the frames of spectacles that provide protection from Nd:YAG lasers. The company says this dielectric coating on the KG5 heat-protection filter from Schott Glaswerke provides optimum protection, even with radiant energy powerful enough to vaporize metals. The transparent mirror forms no focal spot; rather, the laser beam reflected by the mirror expands, thereby decreasing its energy density.
