Schott Glas uses physical vapor deposition to individually manufacture a variety of high-precision interference filters, including short-, long- and bandpass. Also offered are optical filters that measure only a few millimeters and that transmit selected wavelengths while blocking unnecessary ones. The company can produce particularly compact versions by ion plating. Developed to meet customer requirements, these miniature filters are suitable for aligning the emission characteristics of LEDs and for reducing the emissions from laser diodes. They also can be employed in automobile rain sensors.
