Designed to work with a desktop PC and a CCD camera, the CGS OptoLine module from Klughammer GmbH converts standard reflected-light microscopes into fully operational confocal microscopes that can perform optical sectioning, image stacking, full-focus compilation and three-dimensional rendering. The device offers a light efficiency of 70% and image acquisition time of 15 s for a 15-µm-deep specimen at 0.3-µm-step resolution. The module slides in and out of the vertical illuminator, allowing switching between conventional and confocal imaging. It can be used with bright-field and fluorescence microscopes.
