Available in configurations with two, four and eight elements, the LS series of piezoelectric motors from Nanomotion Inc. can reach step sizes of a few nanometers with maximum speeds of 20 mm/s, and they exhibit zero servo dither when in position. The compact devices can drive linear or rotary devices in semiconductor, fiber optic, electronic, biomedical, automotive and general assembly manufacturing equipment. The company says they provide high resolution and unlimited travel and have no intrinsic magnetic field. The motors are suitable for advanced motion control and automation systems, and for repetitive step-and-settle applications.
