The FW312 Automatic Fiber Optic Fusion Splicer from Aurora Instruments
Inc. provides low splice losses with single-mode fiber and is supplied
in a rugged self-contained package. Average splice loss is 0.016 dB and
loss estimates are usually accurate to within 0.02 dB. Aurora says the
process, which involves automatic fiber cleaning, alignment, gapping,
fusion and loss estimation, typically takes about 35 s. Other features
include lockable case latches, user-friendly operating software,
built-in heat shrink oven and precision cleaver.
