Epolin Inc. has introduced its Epolite Near Infrared Absorbing Dyes for protective eyewear, instrumentation filters and heat shield glazing. The company says that the Class V dyes have excellent thermal and light stability, and can be processed in extruded polycarbonate at temperatures greater than 600 °F. They are soluble in a number of organic solvents and can be color balanced to a gray or blue/gray appearance. They are available as free-flowing powders, acrylic or epoxy coatings, or polymer pellets or concentrates.
