BEAMSPLITTERS

A line of high-performance plate beamsplitters, available from Edmund Industrial Optics, have visible or near-IR coatings that reflect 50% of the incident energy over these spectral ranges. A multilayer AR coating is applied to the back surface to reduce backreflection to <0.5% for each wavelength range. The company says the low-absorption coatings provide maximum throughput, and exhibit minimal ghosting of images and less energy loss than beamsplitters with metallic coatings. Specifications include a dimensional tolerance of +0.0/–0.25 mm, surface accuracy of 1λ/in., a clear aperture of >85% and parallelism of ≤3 arc min.
