A miniature integrating sphere for use with fiber optic spectrometers and radiometers has been introduced by Ancal Inc. The Innasphere model IC120 provides full-function cosine reception in the VIS/NIR/UV portions of the spectrum. The device measures 30 mm in diameter and features a 12.5-mm input port covered by a removable quartz disc, and an SMA connector. It has a sealed brass housing to protect against humid environments and a black domed top that minimizes extraneous reflections. The inside spherical surface has three coatings that are designed to provide excellent response. A 1/4-20 hole in the base accepts most standard mounting posts and tripods. The IC120 is suitable for measurements of illuminance, irradiance and photosynthetic photon flux density. It can be calibrated to provide both relative and traceable optical measurements.
