Developed for high-volume military applications, the Model 759 hybrid eye-safe laser rangefinder receiver from Analog Modules Inc. can function as a handheld, vehicle-mount or airborne device. A state-of-the-art preamplifier design enables sensitivity of 40 nW at 1550 nm with 20-ns pulses, 50% probability of detection and 0.1% false-alarm rate. The receiver processes pulse widths from 6 to 40 ns over six-orders-of-magnitude dynamic range, operating between 1.0 and 1.6 µm. It is constructed in a six-pin, TO-8 package, and a 0.78 x 0.75-in. printed circuit board is available to facilitate mounting and false-alarm-rate control.
