The NIR-512 miniature fiber optic spectrometer from Ocean Optics Inc. is for applications that require sensitivity in the near-IR region, including tunable laser wavelength calibration, moisture analysis and general near-IR spectroscopy. The plug-and-play instrument features a temperature-regulated, 512-element InGaAs array detector with a wavelength range of 0.9 to 1.7 µm and a spectral resolution <5.0 nm FWHM. The system integrates a diffractive-grating-based optical bench and a 16-bit A/D converter into a 101.6 x 127 x 76.2-mm housing, eliminating the need for additional spectrometer-to-A/D converter cabling. It interfaces to a PC via the USB port and can communicate with desktop, notebook or handheld PCs that support the RS-232 protocol.
