Newport Corp. has developed the 818-IS-1 Universal Fiber Optic Detector, which uses a symmetrical integrating sphere design for highly accurate, polarization-independent optical power measurements. The dual-port detector measures either bare or connector-terminated single- and multimode optical fibers. FC-, ST- and SC-terminated fiber inputs are accepted, and a dual-detector design allows power measurements over the 400- to 1600-nm wavelength range.
