Lambda Research Corp. has launched version 3.0 of its TracePro software for illumination and optomechanical analysis. All editions feature a rendering interface that uses the Hoops programming tool from Tech Soft America to create 3-D transparent objects, allowing users to see problem areas inside objects and to visualize energy propagation through the optical or illumination system. The company says new graphical outputs create a larger, more readable format with enhanced scales, profiles and 3-D viewing to improve the detail of irradiance/illuminance and candela maps. Version 3.0 also enables users to create circular- and trough-faceted reflector geometry. The Expert edition features birefringent ray-tracing and anisotropic scattering functions.
