Cognex Corp. has introduced its PatMax software system for determining the position of objects in machine vision systems. The software locates objects with a precision that the company says is 10 times higher than more commonly used methods. PatMax also can determine if pieces of an object are missing or if there are extraneous pieces present. The system is available only on the company's machine vision systems; it is suited for semiconductor and electronics applications.
