Ocean Optics Inc. has released a blue LED excitation source for spectrometers configured for fluorescence. The LS-450 provides pulsed or continuous spectral output centered at 470 nm and supports six interchangeable LEDs that are wavelength-specific for 380, 430, 518, 590, 640 and 450 to 630 nm. An SMA 905 connector enables coupling to sampling optics and sample holders. Models include a cable-interface stand-alone version, rack-mounted versions with single or dual light sources, and a USB version, for USB2000 series spectrometers, that draws power via the PC or the spectrometer.
