The 16-channel DAP 5400a/626 from Microstar Laboratories Inc. has eight onboard A/D converters that can acquire 10 million 14-bit-resolution samples per second. This data acquisition board has 128 MB of onboard memory for data buffers and uses DMA-bus-mastering to transfer the data to a PC. It samples its 16 inputs in two groups of eight. For applications that require 16 simultaneous inputs, two synchronized boards installed in a single PC can be employed to provide an aggregate throughput of 20 million samples per second. The device runs on DAPL 2000, a real-time operating system for PC-based data acquisition and control.
