Lytron Inc. designed its High Performance Series vacuum-brazed cold plates for high-watt density applications in the laser, semiconductor and power electronics industries. The standard model CP-30 for end-users has a corrugated aluminum fin that provides an increased heat transfer surface for enhanced efficiency. The company says that the plates, which are manufactured to ISO-9001 standards, offer thermal performance up to 80% better than that of tubed cold plates and that vacuum brazing produces an ultraclean part that provides uniform thermal conductivity over a large surface area. Plates as small as 4 in.2, as large as 700 in.2 and as thin as 0.10 in. are available.
