Analog Modules Inc. has unveiled a hybrid eye-safe laser rangefinder receiver optimized for ultrahigh sensitivity at 1550 nm. The Model 758A can operate from 1.0 to 1.6 µm and processes pulse widths of 1 to 40 ns over six orders of magnitude dynamic range. The detector and preamplifier components are thermoelectrically cooled to minimize noise and provide stability. Various sizes of InGaAs APD detectors are available for different rangefinders. The Model 758A measures 1.47 x 0.77 x 0.27 in. and is suitable for military applications.
