The ThermaCAM S60 IR system from Flir Systems was developed to identify faulty components and thermal anomalies in devices and processes so as to prevent critical failures or damage. The device captures real-time images at standard video rates (60 Hz) and stores up to 600 of them in its 128-MB RAM. A playback feature enables sorting and selecting images, eliminating the need for a PC for portable applications. Both thermal and visual imaging are possible. A fourth-generation uncooled microbolometer IR detector provides thermal sensitivity of 0.06 °C. The system has a built-in Laser LocatIR function, a detachable handle with integrated remote control and a 4-in. LCD. The company says that the ergonomically designed, palm-size device weighs 30% less than comparable IR cameras.
