Advanced Research Instruments Corp. has unveiled a pulse preamplifier discriminator for processing low-level pulses from a photomultiplier tube, an electron multiplier or a Channeltron at count rates of 50 MHz or more. The F-100TD includes a linear preamplifier and amplifier, and a single-channel analyzer that acts as a built-in noise discriminator. It features a 31/2-digit threshold display and is suitable for applications such as photon, electron and ion counting. Specifications include pulse pair resolution of 20 ns, sensitivity of <160 µV and a threshold range of 0 to 1 V.
