A component spectrum analyzer that works with more than 50 tunable laser sources from more than 12 suppliers is available from dBm Optics Inc. The company says that it allows customers to standardize and upgrade their component characterization without purchasing new sources. Model 2004 can automatically measure the wavelength of the source to <1- or <1.8-pm accuracy, which allows older or lower-cost sources to be used in demanding applications. Its real-time reference capability corrects for power variation in the source. The device accommodates tunable laser sources from 800 to 1700 nm.
