Matrox Imaging has introduced a module for its Odyssey Xpro vision processor that is designed for applications that cannot be served by Camera Link, such as transmission over distances greater than 10 m, camera synchronization for surface inspection and legacy scientific/industrial cameras. The plug-in module supports simultaneous acquisition from up to four independent inputs, using a 16-bit-wide LVDS or RS-422 interface; sampling rates are 65 and 32 MHz, respectively. It supports both frame- and line-scan cameras, and allows combined inputs for RGB, or for two-, four- or eight-tap monochrome video sources.
