LASER BEAM SHAPER Newport Corp.'s refractive beam shaper operates from the far-IR to the deep-UV and converts Gaussian laser beam input to produce a collimated, flattop beam that can propagate uniformly over long distances without a change in power or intensity. The company says it is easy to use and to integrate and that it operates at nearly 100% conversion efficiency. Applications include illumination for displays and lithography; laser drilling, machining and surgery; nonlinear optics such as high-energy lasers; and microscopy and printing.
