Ocean Optics Inc. has introduced an optical profiling instrument that performs absolute figure measurements on large flats, spheres and aspheres up to 1500 mm in diameter. The LTP-IV long trace profilometer enables users to characterize the figure and mid-frequency errors on cylindrical aspheres that are more than 1 m long. It measures the shape of aspheric optics, such as cylinders, toroids, ellipsoids and hyperboloids, and also can be used to test adaptive optics and mirror-bending mechanisms. The company says it eliminates the air-bearing system and compressor of the LTP-II.
