The AD 500-1.3G-Mini is the latest member of Pacific Silicon Sensor Inc.'s family of silicon avalanche photodiode (APD) hybrids. It combines a 500-µm-diameter APD with a high-speed transimpedance amplifier in a hermetically sealed miniature TO-18 can. It responds to light in the 350- to 1000-nm range, making it suitable for high-speed data acquisition applications where space is limited. The device is available with a variety of window/lens configurations, including a small-aperture version for direct fiber coupling and a ball lens version. It provides output of 40 mV peak to peak for an input of 1 µW at 880 nm.
