Southampton Photonics Inc. Southampton Photonics Inc. has initiated its redPower fiber laser series with the launch of CW products to 30 W, short-pulsed units with peak powers from 25 kW and energies greater than 1 mJ, and a 100-W modulatable CW device. The series was conceived to provide high single-mode beam quality in a scalable, building-block structure for applications in the industrial, analytical and aerospace markets. The company says that the devices' GTWave fiber technology provides efficient, high-absorption cladding pumping. Proprietary fiber Bragg grating technology enables precise optimization of the final laser cavity

laser cavity
A means of optical confinement intended to increase the gain length of radiation prior to emission from the device. The means of optical confinement used to increase gain path length vary depending upon the properties of the beam desired within the lasing medium. High light intensities occur within a laser cavity and dielectric mirrors coated for the lasing wavelength are used. The position and curvature of the optical cavity elements may be altered in order to optimize the laser performance as...
