Photline Technologies has released the NIR-LN series LiNbO3 modulators for 1064-nm and near-IR applications. They are produced using proton exchange and are hermetically sealed. The modulators have an extinction ratio of 40 dB, drive voltage of ≤4.5 at 1 MHz and a single drive structure. The devices are available with bandwidths above 10 Gb/s and can be used in fiber optic sensors and instruments, free space communication, materials processing and research.
