Laserline GmbH has released fiber-coupled diode lasers for welding and cutting. The LDF 400-850 delivers 850 W in 400-µm fibers and achieves almost three times more output than previous models. The LDF 1000-4000 produces 4000 W in a 1-mm fiber, enabling a smaller spot to be used for higher processing speeds in keyhole welding and brazing. The devices have an integrated laser head for easy exchange of diode laser stacks on-site. Integrated electronics also can recognize a faulty stack and calculate new parameters. Standard components such as a beam switch and a beamsplitter may be used.
