ipd A new version of Windows-based point-and-click machine vision development and deployment software is available from ipd. Sherlock 6.3 features OCRplus optical character recognition and SmartInspect capabilities, as well as support for composite variants of the RSS14 stacked bar code. Applications include reading dot matrix and skewed characters on product parts and labels in environments where poor contrast and background noise prevail. OCRplus offers user-definable size and aspect ratios, an editable font list and multiple line reading with a single region-of-interest reader. The SmartInspect optional algorithm distinguishes good parts from bad based on learning a good set of samples. Applications include presence/absence and defect detection, pattern matching and bar-code verification.
