High-speed filter wheels and shutters that upgrade microscopes for fast, vibration-free filter changing are available in two versions from Prior Scientific Instruments Ltd. for image capture in fluorescence imaging applications. The eight-position wheel accommodates 32-mm-diameter filters, and the 10-position one accepts 25-mm-diameter filters. Both can be controlled directly via an optional keypad or indirectly by a PC. Filter-changing speed is <60 ms from adjacent positions, even when the units are fully loaded with filters. Proprietary S-curve acceleration enables quick, easy installation and a smooth transition from position to position. Little or no vibration is transferred to the microscope. The shutters also are available in 25- and 32-mm sizes, for stand-alone applications or for attachment to the filter wheel.
