Optellios Inc. has launched the PS2300B, an in-line optical polarization analyzer that yields real-time information without interrupting the optical signal. The device has a small optical head that is controlled via an RS-232 interface and software. Specifications include a wavelength range from 1525 to 1575 nm standard and 1460 to 1640 nm optional, insertion loss of <1.5 dB, polarization-dependent loss of <0.05 dB, an input optical power range from –30 to 15 dBm, a measurement rate of 200 samples per second and a storage temperature between –30 and 70 °C. It is suitable for applications such as data traffic monitoring and polarization-mode-dispersion measurement and mitigation.
