Released by Photon Kinetics Inc., Version 4.0 software for the 8000 model production and laboratory optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) is an analysis suite designed for fiber and cable manufacturers. The customizable software can automate the reflectometer's data acquisition process and analyze such properties as fiber length, attenuation, event loss, reflectance and three attenuation uniformity characterizations. It can process data to yield predictions of mode field diameter and spectral attenuation in accordance with IEC and TIA standard test modes. This capability is complemented by a results summary screen display. Acquired results also can be stored in an open, SQL Server-compatible database.
