NP Photonics has introduced its latest-generation Scorpion microfiber laser system. A benchtop system, it features the same ultranarrow line-width of its predecessor, but it provides output powers of up to 150 mW across the C-band (1530 to 1565 nm) and includes an integrated Windows-based computer and large touch-screen LCD. The fully functional computer allows the system to be networked, and all laser functions can be controlled directly from a desktop PC via Ethernet connection. The LCD makes it easy to control all laser functions from the front panel. The system's uses include high-resolution spectroscopy, laser seeding, lidar and other test, measurement and sensing applications.
