SPECTROMETRY SYSTEM
Ocean Optics - Part of Ocean InsightRequest Info
Ocean Optics Inc. has released the LIBS2000+, a laser-induced breakdown spectrometry system that provides full spectral analysis from 200 to 980 nm at 0.1-nm resolution FWHM with a single laser pulse. It performs real-time broadband spectral analysis for qualifying the total elemental composition of a sample, including trace elements in solids, liquids and gases. It requires little or no sample preparation and, the company says, achieves picogram-level sensitivity. A high-intensity Nd:YAG pulsed laser excites a sample with a 10-ns-wide pulse. The laser is fired on the sample, creating plasma. As the plasma cools, excited atoms emit light at wavelengths that are distinct to the sample's elemental composition. The seven-spectrometer system connects to a PC via a single USB port. All seven channels acquire signal simultaneously, and included 32-bit Windows-based software analyzes the signal and displays the data.
