LightPath Technologies Inc. has unveiled an optical product that is mounted externally to circularize elliptical red and blue diode laser beams. The small-form-factor CircuLight is designed for the Nichia blue laser and is compatible with visible and near-IR diode lasers from Sony, Sanyo, Panasonic and OpNext. It is suitable for biomedical, industrial, defense, and test and measurement applications that require a circular and collimated beam. It operates by reshaping the elliptical beam exiting a diode laser, enabling transmitted power through the lens to exceed 90%. Beam diameter is 2.5 mm. The optics are manufactured in a metal housing that integrates into a customer's assembly, and custom designs are available.
