New Focus Inc. has unveiled a line of ultrastable kinematic optic mounts that feature a retention system that optimizes stability and minimizes wavefront distortion, ensuring that the mirrors are flat and solid. Mirror installation and removal require no adhesives. The Model 9814 is a top-actuated version in which all adjustments are accessed along the top, and it is suitable for use in compact spaces. Models 9816 and 9917 are center-mount laboratory devices. Also available are ultraclean OEM types designed for easy integration into UV semiconductor equipment. They are characterized using standard gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis and are certified to outgas less than 1 ppm of volatile mass at 85 °C over 3 h. The company says that the mounts use first-quality adjustment screws and sapphire seats.
