POWER DETECTOR The LP-9930 from Gigahertz Optik Inc. is a broad-spectrum, dual-sensor, integrating-sphere-based power detector that measures the output of bare and connected fibers, laser diodes and LEDS from 1 nW to 100 mW, when used with the company's single- or double-channel optometer. The standard version of the device comprises a 2-in.-diameter barium-sulfate-coated integrating sphere, baffled InGaAs (0.3 mA/W at 1550 nm) and silicon (1 mA/W at 633 nm) photodiodes and 2-m-long cables with BNC connectors. Each detector is supplied with certification of absolute calibration, including the spectral responsivity plot, in watts, decibels per meter, decibels or relative units from 400 to 1800 nm, in 10-nm increments.
