SINGLE-MODE FIBER StockerYale Inc. has announced its SM-1310-P1 polyimide-coated single-mode fiber for optical sensor systems that operate at between 1310 and 1550 nm in harsh environments within the oil and gas industries. Glass diameter is 125 µm, coating diameter is 155 µm and, because the coating is polyimide rather than acrylate, operating temperature is from –65 to 300 °C. In addition, this thin coating makes the fiber suitable for use in some medical devices, such as imaging catheters.
