Omron Corp. has announced its E3C-LDA photoelectric laser sensor series that provides advanced object detection, positioning and high-resolution sensing. The focal point and the optical axis can be adjusted to suit the workpiece, and varying the axis alignment mechanism enables adjustment of the direction of the beam fan to the mounting surface. Detecting distance is up to 1000 mm for the three beam types offered: spot, line and area. The sensors can be located away from moving parts in a production process, and the company says that the sensor heads are compact and easy to install into production equipment. Up to 10 sensors can be combined without interference, permitting multiple measurements. The sensors' slim-line amplifier displays incident light level and threshold value. Application areas include the semiconductor, automotive, and paper and packaging industries.
