TLC International has unveiled the TLC Phoenix-600 high-accuracy mechanical rectilinear/shapes glass cutter for microsheet glass singulation of substrates for displays, photonics, optics and sensors. Using a carbide wheel, the device has achieved a repeatable process for cutting 0.15-mm microsheet substrates with high yields. It cuts circular, curvilinear and rectilinear (X-Y) parts and integrates easily into production lines for use with microsize thin, flat glass parts. To reduce contamination, the company has developed formulas to cut through protective membranes and the glass simultaneously, leaving the protective layer on the glass until installation in an application.
