Newport Corp. says that its UPM ultrafast pulse measurement instruments deliver stable, long-term performance without the need for continuous adjustment or realignment. They simultaneously measure the temporal, spectral and spatial characteristics of ultrafast mode-locked laser pulses between 10 fs and 5 ps. They can analyze a single pulse or a stream or burst, and are suitable for laboratory and industrial use. The devices use the Grenouille variant of frequency-resolved optical gating to provide information on pulse intensity and phase as a function of time, wavelength and location within the beam, and to detect spatial and temporal distortions as well as pulse shape and duration.
