AA Opto-Electronic SA has unveiled a violet modulator designed for 405-nm HeCd lasers. Operating from 405 to 442 nm, it has typical transmission and diffraction efficiencies of 95% and 90%, respectively, a modulation bandwidth of 100 kHz, and a static extinction ratio of ≥2000:1. The aperture measures 3 × 3 mm, operating temperature is from 10 to 40 °C, acoustic velocity is 650 m/s, and center drive frequency is 110 MHz. The modulator measures 50.9 × 22.4 × 15.8 mm and weighs 50 g. It is suitable for biology, biomedical and fluorescence applications.
