Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH has introduced the MCS 621 VIS spectrometer, which measures in the ultraviolet, the visible and the near-IR. Several spectrometer slots are integrated into one housing, so that one instrument can cover the range from 195 to 2150 nm using the spectral ranges of various spectrometer modules. With appropriate firmware, the system can generate data without the use of external computers and can communicate directly with external programmable logic controllers. It features improved photometry, noise and linearity of the polychromators, which are stable and can operate in typical process environments.
