Model 83XX-UHV ultrahigh-vacuum extended-lifetime Picomotor actuators released by New Focus are available with travel ranges from 0.5 to 1 in. and with two standard mounting styles. The 30-nm-resolution compact motors achieve long-term stability with high stiffness in vacuum applications down to 1029 t. They maintain their set position while in the power-off state. The devices come with short Teflon-coated leads and have been characterized using standard gas chromatography/mass spectrometry analysis to outgas <5 ppm of volatile mass at 85 °C over 3 h.
