Hand-Held or Fixed MountMILTON KEYNES, England, Sept. 30 -- Cognex, a supplier of machine vision systems, has introduced a new line of hand-held and fixed-mount ID readers.
Earlier this year, Cognex set up a new business division to focus specifically on the ID market. The focus of this division is to supply products to read and verify data matrix codes on direct part marked components. Direct part marking is used in the automotive, aerospace, medical and electronics industries to allow components to be identified and tracked during production. It also allows parts to be identified later in their life cycle, when maintenance or replacement is required.
The new product line includes two hand-held readers, one for reading laser and ink-jet marks, the other for reading dot peen and chemical etch marked codes. Also being introduced are two high-speed fixed-mount reader products. Cognex has developed a new data matrix reading technology called IDMax based on its patented techniques. Reliable code reading is essential for part tracking in a wide range of production, assembly, test and logistics operations.
"Until now, manufacturers haven't had access to products that combine the level of performance, ease of use and choice of form factor that Cognex now provides," said Eric Ceyrolle, president of International Operations at Cognex. "These new hand-held and fixed-mount readers enable manufacturers to move forward on part traceability projects with confidence that they will read reliably and quickly, every time."
