BENCHTOP SAW Logitech Ltd. has developed a precision saw that operates in annular slicing and peripheral cutting modes. The APDI has an LCD control panel with a joystick to help the user input exact cutting requirements. It can be used on BK 7 glass, ceramics, silicon, gallium arsenide, indium phosphide and lithium niobate. In annular mode, up to 100 cuts can be made on the crystal boule, with optimal surface roughness of 200 nm. In peripheral mode, the saw cuts chips down to 1 × 2 mm with good repeatability. Single and multiple cuts can be set up and run from the graphics screen with positional accuracy of 5 µm in the X- and Y-axes.
