CCD CAMERAS Princeton Instruments announces its Pixis line of deep-cooled spectroscopy and imaging CCD cameras. The ultracompact devices deliver 2100 °C cooling and read noise as low as 2.5 e2 rms. They have all-metal vacuum seals, a single-head design and a USB 2.0 interface and are suitable for low-light applications, including Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy and semiconductor research. Operated at 100 kHz and 2 MHz, each camera delivers greater than 16-bit true dynamic range. Available with WinView/WinSpec software, they also are supported under LabView and are backward-compatible with all programs written for the company's previous cameras.
