VIBRATION ISOLATION Edmund Industrial Optics has unveiled the BM-4 1/2-Hz vibration isolation system. Based on patented negative-stiffness technology, it requires neither electrical nor air hookups, enabling easy transportation and quick setup. Breadboards can be placed on top to increase the surface area. The system measures less than 17 × 17 × 9 in., weighs 60 lb and is available in three models that support payloads of 0 to 25, 25 to 50 or 50 to 100 lb. It is designed for isolating sensitive instrumentation and high-magnification imaging from low-frequency building and ground vibrations.
